The Time is Now

The time is now… We are here… approaching January 2019… Another year gone by, another opportunity to start out and finish right!  You are likely reading this because you are joining me for the Soul30 Journey!

The Soul30 Journey is a total body, mind and spirit reset.    For 30 days, you will love yourself enough to give your body a break from all the inflammatory causing foods and eat only those foods that do the body good.

After successfully completing my first Whole30 Reset created by Melissa and Dallas Hartwig, I struggled to successfully complete a second, third and fourth Whole30.  This time, I am determined to succeed and know one of the best ways to succeed is to be PREPARED.    Here are five tips to getting prepared:

  1. Know your “Why!” Write it down.  Remind yourself daily WHY you love yourself and deserve to be healthy.
  2. Anticipate and Plan for pitfalls! Visualize weekly trips to the grocery store and cooking every other day with a big prep day on Sundays. What will your social life look like the next 30 days?  Is it time to find some new friends at the local health club or walk path? Rehearse telling your friends at the office that you’ll have to take a pass on the team Happy Hour after work, which leads me to the next tip.
  3. Don’t put yourself in situations that could be harmful like… Happy Hours! Find something else to do! Get excited about going home to cook and light your favorite smelling candle.

  5. Clean House! Time to go through the cabinets and refrigerator and get ride of all the non-compliant foods.

From Transition to Transformation

Welcome to the Kickass Culture Food Experience!   I am excited to invite you all on this transformative journey with me! 2018 was very much a transitional year for me.   I watched a dear friend transition from an earthly to a heavenly home–all due to an illness associated with lifestyle choices.  I discovered the joy & benefits of daily walking with a friend and made a decision to align my lifestyle with people, places and things that make me and my family healthy, happy and well.

I believe the transitions of 2018 will translate into the TRANSFORMATION of 2019.   I’ve struggled so much in the past to lose weight, eat heathy, and exercise regularly.  I didn’t stop and take the time to quiet my mind, be still and appreciate the daily grace, glory and blessings given to me without fail by God.  This year, I took a pause from work, friends and my typical lifestyle and I stopped, walked and talked daily.  In the process, I discovered the power and pain of self-reflection.  The power and pain of addiction.  The power and pain of a supportive village.  The power and pain of the will to live or die.  The power and pain of love.   The power and pain associated with loss.  The power and pain associated with failure.  And so on …

If I’ve never known. I know now what is motivating me this time to succeed in my quest for a healthy lifestyle.   After countless hours of walking and stimulating conversation with my walking buddy, I am convinced that I am motivated by the power of LOVE.  Not just the romantic type of love, or the love we have for our children.  I am seeking a deeper, more committed love for myself.  I want to be able to confidently feel worthy of being loved by God & others, because I am first loved by myself.  Hence, the commitment to SOUL30 & Kickass Cultural Food!
