El Nuevo Rodeo is the brainchild of Maya Santamaria who after 12 attempts to get funding opened this amazing venue in 2003 which now includes a 20,000 sq.’ concert venue on the second floor; an Event Center on the third floor that becomes the vibrant Paraiso Lounge every Friday night with Djs playing the hottest Latin music; cumbia, salsa, guaracha, merengue, bachata, reggeaton, & more.

In 2013, Santamaria bought the 1400 and 1470 AM and 97.5 FM stations in the Twin Cities to create La Raza 97.5 FM, the first Latin-owned and operated Spanish language radio station in Minnesota and the Minnesota Twins’s affiliate for Spanish radio play-by-play.

Santamaria is a well-respected businesswoman in the Twin Cities. She serves on the Meet Minneapolis board of directors, was elected to the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee advisory board and owns Telemundo Minnesota, a branch of Telemundo, the largest Spanish television network in the U.S.
